The words, and the film they were said in.

Six films, none of them made by us. Each one plays here, with what the speaker actually said beside it.

“They can access simple but often challenging social needs as well as structural needs in terms of transportation, free groceries, free education, doula services — so a lot of things that our patients don’t have access or easy access to, they are able to do that on their phone.”

Dr. Chidinma Osineme, MD, FAAFPChief Medical Officer, Chicago Family Health Center

Filmed at the Chicago launch, when the program went live across six Chicago Family Health Center sites on the South and West Sides, funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.

“Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois is committed to ensuring that our members receive equitable, high quality care at the right time, at the right place.”

Dr. Sharon RobinsonExecutive Medical Director, Health Care Service Corporation

The plan’s own film about the program. Dr. Robinson goes on to say that investing in programs that prioritize these needs is how the plan ensures members get the care they deserve.

“He introduced the app to me, and I thought it was a no-brainer to be able to bring those benefits to this community.”

Jason WallaceChief Executive Officer, New Horizon Health Center, Brownsville, TX

“I met Mo in Dallas, Texas. He and I had a connection.” New Horizon is the largest InovCares site — 698 enrolled and 401 deliveries. Filmed by Google for Developers, January 2026.

“Having that second child has been amazing and beautiful and has brought so much light to our lives.”

MattuInovCares member, Atlanta · today a mother of two

A member, not a spokesperson. Mattu found the program during her first pregnancy and stayed with the same care team through a second and her son’s first year. Filmed and published by Google.

“A lot of us have a lot of creative things that we would love to do. We just don’t have the resources.”

Dr. Latasha JarrettChief Medical Officer, HHM Health, Dallas, TX

She is speaking about what the plan’s funding makes possible at an FQHC, not about InovCares — her clinic is a partner site, but she does not name us. “Regardless of where we sit, all of us want to improve the lives of the individuals that live in our communities.” Filmed at the BCBSTX Special Beginnings® grantee meeting, February 2024.

Launch day at HHM Health.

Case studies · Chicago Family Health Center

What a doula and an open chat thread actually change.

Two cases from the South Side, written up by the doula who carried them. Neither is a clinical intervention in the usual sense. Both are the reason the patient stayed in care.

Social drivers of health

Her power came back on, and she finished the course that got her hired.

  • $600of utility debt forgiven, and a $34/month subsidized rate
  • CNAcertified nursing assistant — the job her restored power let her train for
  • 0prenatal appointments missed through the crisis

The situation

Gabrielle was 12 weeks pregnant when her home electricity was shut off over a $600 past-due balance — putting her housing safety, her wellbeing and her online coursework at risk, all at once.

What the care team did

  • Worked through the utility options with Gabrielle rather than taking over, applying for low-income relief and advocating directly with the utility.
  • Assessed employment, home environment and support network to build a plan that outlasted the crisis.
  • Held the thread open between visits in the app, with instant messaging to her care team and one place to track what had been applied for.

What changed

  • Full debt forgiveness negotiated, and a subsidized rate of $34 a month going forward.
  • Power restored, so Gabrielle could finish her online classes — which led to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Crisis-driven anxiety replaced by self-advocacy, and she stayed engaged in her prenatal care throughout.
Postpartum mental health

By the second visit, she had stopped calling herself lazy.

  • 2nd visitwhere her language about herself shifted toward self-compassion
  • Weeklycheck-ins established, with the app open between them
  • 3 monthspostpartum when her tribe reached her

The situation

Keishla was reached through her My Tribes community at three months postpartum. Asked how she was doing, she said she needed to lose weight and felt lazy — self-criticism and anxiety that are easy to miss and easy to agree with.

What the care team did

  • A live virtual visit built around grounding, mindfulness and guided breathing, plus plain education on what the postpartum body is actually doing.
  • Looked at household dynamics with Keishla and found the pattern: not laziness, but shutdown during the hours the baby slept.
  • Weekly check-ins, with the app as a low-barrier channel whenever the anxiety rose between them.

What changed

  • She recognized the shutdown for what it was and learned to give herself room.
  • By the second visit her language about herself had shifted toward self-compassion.
  • A weekly rhythm of care that held — the thing that prevents a postpartum month from becoming a postpartum year.
“Having access to the app has made it so much easier to stay connected, ask questions, and manage my health without feeling overwhelmed. The app has given me peace of mind because I always feel like I have support when I need it.”
Gabrielle · Patient at Chicago Family Health Center
“InovCares works for me because I get access to my blood pressure numbers to make sure I’m okay for me and my baby. I get free doula services and get advice and coping mechanisms to help with my postpartum and be able to do better for myself.”
Keishla · Patient at Chicago Family Health Center, postpartum care

Written up by the InovCares doula team at Chicago Family Health Center, 2026. Both patients are identified by first name only.

Independent analysis

The outcomes were analyzed outside InovCares

The analysis behind the paper was run by Dr. Kyrah K. Brown’s lab at the University of Texas at Arlington, working only with de-identified data. UT Arlington’s Institutional Review Board reviewed that arrangement in November 2024 and determined it exempt from human-subjects review.

How the analysis was done

Every story here started with one clinic saying yes.
